What types of plastic can be used in RF Welding or Dielectric Sealing? There are various plastics that can be RF Sealed and are typically called “thermoplastics”. Thermoplastics, when properly heated to a sufficiently high temperature, will soften to the point where they can be RF welded together. The most common types of thermoplastics used in RF Welding are Polyethylene, Polypropylene, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), Polyurethane and Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS).
Our Dielectric Welding applications are typically for medical, automotive, military, aerospace, safety & industrial applications. We use a wide range of materials from vinyl, vinyl coated nylon, urethane, urethane coated nylon & ethyl vinyl acetate and exotic materials. RF Sealed products include bags, boots & bellows, buoys, suits, vests, wheelchair cushions, chairs, seats, covers, gloves, life support systems, floats, medical device components, pouches, seals, bladders, protective clothing & packs. We also have the ability to add injection molded parts to any RF Sealed product through our local sister company, Plastic Industries.
