WHAT IS RF WELDING?

RADIO FREQUENCY WELDING

RF Welding also known as High Frequency welding, Dielectric Sealing or RF Sealing is a method of joining thin sheets of polar thermoplastic material together. It uses high radio frequency (13 to 100 MHz) electromagnetic energy to fuse the materials together on a molecular level.

WHAT TYPES OF MATERIALS CAN BE RF WELDED?

There are various plastics that can be RF Sealed and are typically called “thermoplastics”. Thermoplastics, when properly heated to a sufficiently high temperature, will soften to the point where they can be RF welded together. The most common types of thermoplastics used in RF Welding are:

               • Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)                                         • Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS)

               • Polyurethane                                                             • Polyethylene

Dielectric Welding applications are typically for medical, automotive, military, aerospace, safety & industrial applications. Sealtech uses a wide range of materials from vinyl, vinyl coated nylon, urethane, urethane coated nylon & ethyl vinyl acetate and exotic materials. RF Sealed products include bags, boots & bellows, buoys, suits, vests, wheelchair cushions, chairs, seats, covers, gloves, life support systems, floats, medical device components, pouches, seals, bladders, protective clothing & packs. We also have the ability to add injection molded parts to any RF Sealed product.
